What is the name of your blog?
My blog is called hookin' A yarn. A bit of a play on words. It can mean that I'm using a hook and yarn to create crocheted items. Or it can mean I'm creating a story (yarn) by writing my blog.
How much time per week do you spend on your blog?
It takes me hours to do a post, mainly because of loading the photos. I usually do a bit at a time during the day, check it and re-check it and then finally publish. I'm trying not to let it take over my life but am finding it very addictive!
What is your favourite colour?
This is a very hard question for me. I like nearly every colour but I suppose my favourites are purple, duck egg blue and chartreuse. My least favourite colour is peach though there are times when I appreciate it mixed in with other colours.
What is your favourite craft activity?
I suppose it would have to be crocheting, closely followed by knitting. I'm also starting to love weaving.
How many blogs do you follow?
I counted them up and it's 108. I don't have them all listed on my blog so I will have to get round to doing that.
Have you a creative soul?
Yes, I like to think that I do. My head is constantly full of ideas about things I want to make and how to do it. Sometimes I can't sleep for thinking about it all.
Do you have a specific material that you like to work with?
I love working with natural yarns like wool, alpaca, silk, cotton and linen. Probably alpaca is my favourite.
Wool and you ....
Are in love.At what age did you learn to crochet or knit?
I learnt to knit when I was five and I must have been about ten when I learnt to crochet.
Who taught you?
My mother taught me both how to knit and crochet. She was constantly knitting and crocheting for our family and friends.
What are your future projects?
Ah! I have so many things I want to make. Currently I'm making Christmas decorations so this will be going on until it's too late to make any more for this year. I'm also making some Christmas gifts. My cotton king sized blanket is on hold but I should soon be able to start it again and will hopefully get it finished soon. I have a new pattern for an Aran coat so, as soon as I've bought the wool, I want to get knitting it (and wearing it!). There's a lovely cardigan that I've started for myself and want to get finished. I have a pattern for a gorgeous crocheted dress that I'd also like to make. I have ideas in my head for some sort of crocheted over-top-type -of-thing and I hope that I can work something out to make this too.
Now for the nominees. I'm just going to pass on the award to six blogs as that's what I did the last time (well, it was five last time). Here are the blogs to which I'd like to pass on the Liebster award:
Jodi of a caffeinated yarn
Sarah of A Little Happy Place
Irene of All Occasions Cards, Papers and More
Jackie of Button Tree Crafts
Chris of Chrissie's Knit Times
Jill of Emerald Cottage
To be consistent I will also just ask five questions so making it a bit easier to answer! My questions are:
Are you a morning person?
Do you prefer tea or coffee?
If you could buy any craft supply of your choice, what would it be?
What has been your most disastrous make?
What is your favourite season of the year and why?
Do you like shopping or do you just do it because you have to?
All the best to everyone for now. Thanks again to Géraldine for the award.
Congratulations to you (and your lovely blog)! Thank you for nominating me. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so impressed that you are making a king-sized blanket -- I can't even begin to contemplate such a big project.
It was lovely to read more about you and your work and so on Gillian! xx
ReplyDeleteNice to read a little more about you. Thank you for leaving a comment on my blog. I visited Ireland over a decade ago - loved it there but a week definitely wasn't long enough. Reminded me greatly of where I grew up in the country here in New Zealand.
ReplyDeleteNice reading this and getting to 'know' you a little more! : )
ReplyDeleteHi Gillian, I enjoyed reading your post - like you it's the photos that take me the time, not the actual uploading, it's the choosing of which ones to use hat I find time-consuming!
ReplyDeleteThankyou very much for nominating my blog :) Like you I have been nominated before, I enjoyed posting my answers back then, it was a lot of fun, but took me flipping ages! I will gratefully say thankyou but I won't participate this time, I really hope you aren't offended or anything, because it am really touched that you nominated me :)
Jillxxx
Hi Jill, I know how time consuming it is to do this so I'm not in the least offended!

Congratulations on the award, very well deserved. I like these type of posts as you get to know a little more about the person, plus there are links to other great blogs which I invariably add to my follow list.
ReplyDeleteHello Gillian

Hi Gillian! OOps, I just realized that I had read your post, but not commented! Too many late nights and the attention span goes awry! I have the feeling I've gotten to know you over this summer and autumn! I enjoy reading your blog, as you probably know by now, you keep it interesting by keeping it varied. Your many wonderful makes speak even louder than words. And your photos are just lovely! Your love for what you do shines through!!! <3
ReplyDeleteI just want to take a short moment (that attention span again!) to thank you for all your efforts!!! I enjoy them immensely!
Sorry, off to do some crochet, hands are refusing to type, and are wandering off in direction of yarn....
Bye! ^^
